John Deere Green - Happy Anniversary!!

They were farm kids way down in Dixie,
They met in high school in the sixties.
Everyone knew it was love from the start.
One July in the midnight hour,
He climbed up on the water tower:
Stood on the rail and painted a 10ft heart,

In John Deere Green.
On a hot summer night ,
He wrote Billy Bob loves Charlene,
In letters 3ft high.
And the whole town said that he should have used red,
But it looked good to Charlene,
In John Deere Green.

Now that's what I call love! Except this time, its not Billy Bob or Charlene! It's Uncle Brad and Aunt Lynn!! Check this out!

Brad did this as a surprise to Lynn for their 28th wedding anniversary! After 28 years, he is still proclaiming his love for her! HOW SWEET!

Brad and Lynn are amazing role models for Nick and I. Sometimes I wonder what kind of a wife I'd be without Lynn's example. They exeplify the precepts listed in Ephesians 5 ~ AND they are real about it. It isn't easy, but they haven't given up. :)

21Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

22Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

33Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Lynn and Brad are like parents to us. They have taken us in and loved us like their own. When my mom died, God used Lynn to fill in, (not replace), that hole in my heart. Every girl needs a mom...

...But she isn't just "like" a mom to me...She is a mom to me!

B & L ~ Thank you for loving us and treating us like your own. We thank God for our relationship with you and for the example that you are to us. May God bless you with many, many more years of happiness and love!

I love this picture!

Family Picnic

Wednesday evening, the kids and I surprised Nick with a picnic. He loves eating outdoors, and well...I just don't. :(

BUT - because Nick was leaving on Thursday for a short trip for work, I decided I should do something special for him. So, I made his favorite meal, cavatini (I think it has been 6 or 7 months since I've made it! oops!) and cooked carrots. Threw in some juice boxes, strawberries, and some bread and we had ourselves a sweet little picnic!

I told him a few little "lies" so that it would be a surprise. First, I made sure he'd be home right on time, so I told him I had a chiropractor appt. and I needed him home promptly to be with the kids....Then I started running behind so I quick made a call and pretended to need butter from Walmart...THEN I wanted to be sure he'd see his note to meet us at the state park that we had taped on the garage door, so I told him our garage door was making funny noises so he shouldn't push the button as he was coming down the road. :) hehe....

Here they are, anxiously awaiting daddy's arrival...
Still waiting....
Our feast
AND....guess what? I actually REALLY enjoyed it! :) It helped that the weather couldn't have been more perfect! ;)

"Awww....RATS!"

So do any of you ever use this phrase? This is something I didn't realize I said until Carter began to repeat me. ;) (Don't you love how children repeat their parents?)

This morning we were talking about Carter's first day of Nursery sunday school. Previously, we had taught him that he isn't to talk in SS without first raising his hand and being called upon. (Nick's doings...he is a 2nd grade ss teacher - wonder why he thought of that!?!)

So this morning, I asked Carter, "So did you talk a lot in SS, or were you quiet?" ( I was trying to see if he was shy or outgoing NOT if he was disobedient...) He thought about it for a few seconds, then under his breath he said, "AWWW...RATS! " (LOL) then he replied to himself by shaking his head and saying, "Oh, no! Its okay..."

I looked him, (trying not to laugh) and asked why he said that.

He said, "I thought I talkedid wifout raising my hand, but its okay i didn't!"

SOOOO cute! I just love him! :)

Ornery Mason #3

Nick captured this moment when we came home from swimming. (We had only been home for 5 minutes! LOL..) He has actually calmed down quite a bit, but still has his moments! Gotta go for now - he is begging for candy and I'm supposed to be tucking him in! haha...

We just found out that Nick passed his 7th Actuary Exam!

WooHoo! Way to go, babe!

His next exam is November 4th ~ This is a HUGE exam. It is only offered once per year, so it is very important that he passes it on the first try! Say a little prayer! :)

What a Joy

I'm feeling overwhelmed with joy as I look at our pictures from the last week. We had a fun filled evening at Brad & Lynn's this week and are looking forward to another fun family evening tonight with the Gerbers!

I also got to watch my full-of-smiles nephew this week! (why is this underlined? can't get rid of it...) It was under yucky circumstances, though...pray for his mom & dad ~ they lost a very loved grandpa this week...

Oh, my sweet, sweet baby girl...She too, is responsible for my overwhelming joy! :)
