We are in serious need of advice on making a new purchase:

Cookware!!
We initially bought a set of T-Fal teflon pans from Walmart and they worked fine for about 2 1/2 years, but now the teflon is flaking off! YUCK! Therefore, we are in the market for new pans. These are some of the guidelines/decisions we need to make:
1. Not interested in cheap pans that will need replaced within the next 10-15 years. Lifetime guarantee would be ideal.
2. Do we buy teflon/nonstick again or switch to stainless steel? (are stainless steel healthier for us?)
3. I'd love to have Pampered Chef - are they worth the price?
4. What other pans are good ones to consider?
5. MUST be dishwasher safe. No exceptions! ;)
What kind of cookware do you use? Do you like it? What do you wish you had?
Thanks for the help! ;)

I absolutely LOVE my Pampered Chef non-stick pans (they're not teflon) and would TOTALLY get them again for that price. The only thing that doesn't meet your requirements is that they aren't dishwasher safe. The lids are, but not the pans. But, I've also NEVER had ANY problems cleaning them. They NEVER need soaked and stuff wipes right off. I don't know about the stainless ones, but I don't think I've heard anything bad about them. Good luck with your decision!!!
Pampered Chef was VERY worth it! Although like Janel said they aren't dishwasher safe. It really isn't bad washing them. I've never really thought of it as a pain that I had to hand wash them. Plus I have a feeling that if you go with anything dishwasher safe you might have the flaking problem again. If I could do it over again I'd go with stainless steel. But I think the only reason for that is because all the professionals on TV have stainless -- not for practicality. :) Good luck!
Jess, I just bought new pans about 6 months ago. The ones I had, had a copper bottom (they were Revere...the same exact that my mom had) and they were a pain to clean if stuff got stuck. So, I bought a set of kitchen aid from Kohls. I've never had any regrets with this purchase and am usually always pleased with Kitchen Aid. If you're looking for dishwasher safe, I think you'll have to go with stainless steel b/c most non stick pans say not to use the dishwasher b/c of flaking. Mine are supper easy to clean (it's not called "non stick" or "stainless steel" but the kind I have is a "hard anodized" finish). You can research that if you want. Hope you find some that you want. I considered Pampered chef but too expensive for me to buy all the pieces!! Jess
Jessica, I don't have them, but I have heard they are wonderful. They are the Amway pans. I don't even know if they still sell them but if I were getting new, I would def check 'em out! Let us know what you decide! Good luck!
I started out with stainless steel, and then I got the pampered chef ones...I always use the pampered chef ones! food doesn't stick to it, so they're soooo easy to clean. (Hot water takes care of anything that does stick!!!!) but then i don't have a dishwasher, so maybe i would use my stainless steel ones if i did. hope you make the right choice.

I do like stainless steel for the fact that they go in the dishwasher. I have a Farberware set that wasn't very expensive. They are 12 years old and good as new.
I have Lifetime cookware. They are expensive but have a lifetime warranty. My mom has had her set since shes been married over 40 years. If a handle breaks or anything strange like that happens they replace it no questions asked. Just a thought! Check them out!
Hi Jess,
i know i am a little late on on commenting but I do have a opinion.
(shocking I know) I have had numerous pans. I started with some of my Mom's lifetime and some odd and ends revereware from our wedding.
After we were married about 5 years I invested in Lifetime of my own. To be honest I am not a huge fan. % years ago when I got my flat top stove I bought a small set of pampered chef pans. I have loved them but my family skillet started peeling but I should be able to get it replaced.
I have to say I love the big kettle the best. I do have the steamer insert but I don't use it much because it just doesn't hold enough for my big eaters.
My absolute favorite pan is a large 5 qt non stick skillet I bought at the kitchen outlet at Fremont
(the lakes) it costs me $20 but had a $5 rebate. Every few years I replace it if needed but seriously I love it. I can make everything in it. For a while I had 2 and that was just about the only pans I ever used unless I had to haul out the big 8 or 12qt lifetime kettles for soup or cooking apples for applesauce.
I have also talked to some people that really like the cephalon ( spelling ??) from Bed Bath and Beyond. Hey if you go that route I can give you some 20% off coupons. Every little bit helps!!
Good Luck!
Susie
